Sure, it might be more “Americanized”, and no doubts more expensive than its neighbors, but in terms of the wildlife you can find there, the quality of its national parks and the level of environmental preservation, Costa Rica is pretty much as good as it gets in Central America.
This little country – 13 times smaller than Texas to give you an idea – is home to hundreds of species of animals spread over 29 different national parks. Many of these creatures are unique in Central America. During my time there I was lucky enough to see sloths, monkeys, bats, tapirs and even glow-in-the-dark scorpions.
