The well-preserved Copán ruins are deep in the Honduran jungle near the border with Guatemala.
As sadly very few tourists seem to visit Honduras these days due to the political problems in the country, I was lucky enough to have the whole place practically to myself.
You can let your imagination run wild by looking at that amphitheater and what remains of the city.
As you can see in the first picture, the Honduran one lempira note has a picture of a part of the ancient city of Copán.
