Cafe Ukraine @cafe_ukraine_berlin is a place set up by refugees for refugees in the centre of Berlin.
Started by three inspiring women – Kseniia, Nataliya and Lena, who have only been in Germany for a few weeks after fleeing the war in Ukraine with their children – and in collaboration with @hausderstatistik and @ana.lichtwer of the wonderful @berliner_stadtmission, it collects donations of clothes, books, toys and many other necessities for refugees, while also providing a safe meeting point for new arrivals to the city.
There are also sewing areas for young designers, as well as other workshops that help promote awareness of recycling and environmental protection. Every Thursday, they put on live music performances by Ukrainian artists and prepare home cooked Ukrainian food for over 150 people.
If you have anything to donate or if you’re even just in the area, please feel free to pass by Karl-Marx-Allee 1 any time after 14:00 to say hello! We promise that at the very least it’ll put a smile on your face.
